THE President's Challenge goes online for the first time this year, and it has chosen Stomp as the Internet platform to launch it.
Just send in a video or photographs depicting the spirit of volunteerism in Singapore, and you might just win an HP laptop or Pocket Phone.
The President's Challenge (PC) is an annual series of community-based activities initiated by President S R Nathan in 2000.
The fundamental aims of PC are to increase awareness about how the community can get involved in helping the less fortunate and raise funds for the social service sector.
According to Ms K. Bhavani, chairperson for the Publicity Sub-Committee of this year's President's Challenge, this year's PC competition hopes to reach out to a large group of young people.
"With the advent of new media such as blogs and video blogs, we would like to reach out to a large group of tech-savvy population, including young people," she said.
"Through this competition on Stomp, we hope to engage the youth and the online community and help them to understand PC better."
This year, PC aims to involve 260,000 people who can touch the lives of the less privileged. Schools have been active participants of PC activities every year since its inception.
Apart from the chance to learn more about PC and how they can contribute to this worthy cause, students will also gain good exposure in the art of video-making and photography.
