Png Cheong Boon appointed chief executive of Spring S'pore

The Minister for Trade and Industry has appointed Mr Png Cheong Boon as Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore with effect from 1 September 2008.

Mr Png joined the public service in 1993 and was amongst the first batch of EDB-Glaxo scholars.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering) degree from Cornell University and obtained his Master of Science in Management at Stanford University in 2003.

During his 10 years at the Economic Development Board, Mr Png held various appointments, including over six years at EDB's overseas operations in San Francisco and Chicago.

He joined SPRING Singapore in July 2003 as its Deputy Chief Executive and was appointed Acting Chief Executive in May 2008.

Over the last few years, Mr Png has also held directorships in Singapore Information Services Pte Ltd, SPRING Seeds Capital Pte Ltd, SPIB Holdings Pte Ltd, Intellectual Property Academy and SPRING Equity Investments Pte Ltd
