S'pore defence minister calls on NZ leaders

Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean met with New Zealand Defence Minister Phil Goff today.

Mr Teo is visiting New Zealand from August 18 to 22.

During their meeting, both defence ministers exchanged views on developments in our region, regional security architecture and our cooperation in Afghanistan, said a press statement.

Mr Teo also met with Foreign Minister Winston Peters and other key New Zealand leaders.

Yesterday, Mr Teo visited the Royal New Zealand Naval Base HMNZS Philomel, where he was received by Rear-Admiral David Ledson, Chief of Navy, Royal New Zealand Navy and given a traditional Maori welcome.

Mr Teo also visited the HMNZS Canterbury, where he was given a tour of the ship by Commander Tony Millar, Commanding Officer of HMNZS Canterbury.
