BRITAIN'S Prince Andrew arrived in Singapore on Wednesday for a three-day visit focussed on promoting trade and investment ties, the British High Commission said.

The Duke of York, who is fourth in line to the British throne, will call on Singapore President S.R. Nathan, visit three new facilities opened by British firms and meet with Singaporean and British business leaders during his trip.

He will also visit the offices of Singapore port operator PSA International, which has made major investments in Britain in the last year, the embassy said in a statement.

It will be Andrew's fourth visit to Singapore, a former British colony, in his role as his country's special representative for international trade and investment.

'We have a very special business relationship with Singapore and there's tremendous energy and determination on both sides, I know, to see that grow and flourish,' the statement quoted Prince Andrew as saying.
