The 11th Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee (SSTC) workplan was signed by Co-Chairman Minister Of State for Defence Koo Tsai Kee and Sichuan Vice Governor Huang Xiaoxiang today.

Key areas of focus for Singapore-Sichuan cooperation include modern manufacturing and modern services, as well as assistance in Sichuan's post-quake reconstruction efforts.

Sichuan can benefit from the growth of its economy and meet their current needs, and Singapore-based companies gain with long-term business development plans and investments in the province.

"Amidst the current global downturn, market demands will be softer and companies will be more cautious ... However, this does not mean there will be no business opportunities for business investment and growth.

"We are working closely with our counterparts in Sichuan and Chengdu to collaborate on three areas - first, modern services, such as logistics, healthcare and F&B; second, education and training; and third, master planning and integrated townships." said Minister Lim Swee Say, advisor to SSTC.
