MM Lee undergoes minor surgery

Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew is now recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery to have a cardiac pacemaker implanted.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's office, the surgery was performed because he had been experiencing symptoms of irregular heart rhythms - or cardiac arrhythmia.

He is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

His doctors have agreed to and will accompany him on his trip to Hong Kong from Dec 1 to 3 to have a dialogue session with former US President Bill Clinton at his Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Asia Meeting, reported a local television network.

Earlier in September, MM Lee had received successful treatment for atrial flutter.
