by Jill Alphonso

NOT sure about where to spend New Year's Eve? my paper breaks down the Dec 31 parties worth going to.

BUBBLY NYE @ AQUA
What: The new party pad off Merchant Road, near Clarke Quay, promises a set by DJ Tomo, who is on from 8pm till late. Costs $40 per person (includes a glass of champagne and a party pack). Call 9771-AQUA (2782) for details.

HOUSE FASHION DISASTER NYE PARTY
What: House (8D Dempsey Rd) invites you to dress in your "ultimate fashion horror" for this party, on from 10pm to 1am. On tap will be a free flow of house pours and truffle fries. Costs $125 per person (pre-sale) and $150 at the door. Call 6474-5964 for details.

AULD LANG SIGN, IT'S 2009 - ZOUK NYE ON MAMBO JAMBO
What: Zouk (17, Jiak Kim Street) presents its traditional Mambo night for NYE. So why not get down to retro tunes while signing (get it?) the night away to classic Mambo moves. Costs $35 for non-members (includes two drinks). Call 6738-2988 for details.

THE FARAWAY TREE - NYE AT ZIRCA
What: Zirca (Block 3C, The Cannery, Clarke Quay, #01-02) features a show with contortionists, aerialists and dancers. Costs $35 (includes a drink). Call 6235-2292 for details.

MARINA BAY SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN
What: The annual countdown event presents a live show with artistes like Taufik Batisah and Filipino rock band Rivermaya. Expect the traditional fireworks too. Gates open at 7pm. Costs $18 or $25, depending on seating. Call Sistic (tel: 6348-5555) for tickets and details. The show will be screened on Channel 5 from 10.30pm.
