By Elena Chong

A POLICEMAN from Criminal Investigation Department was charged in a district court on Tuesday with corruption and neglect of duty.

Ganesan Maniam, 39, was a staff sergeant attached to the Secret Societies Branch in 2003 when he allegedly accepted two loans of $4,000 and $2,000 from pub operator Andrew Rajendran Govindasamy.

He is said to have obtained the bribes in return for being lenient when conducting raids on Mr Rajendran's two pubs, Club 6 Music Lounge and Ragawood.
