>FORGET office furniture that comes in boring shades of brown and black. Brace yourself to enter an office filled with pink egg-shaped desks and white sofas covered in pink squiggles. The pieces are from a new brand of furniture designed by flamboyant, pink-loving industrial designer Karim Rashid.
No wonder it is called Pinker. In Singapore this week to launch the label at the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2009, the world-renowned Rashid says the name is a play on his favourite colour, which exudes positivity. He was dressed from head to toe in - what else - pink.
Of his Pinker range, which also includes lampshades in pop art colours, bright orange office chairs and a pink TV stand, the New York-based designer says it is about 'bringing more energy to the office through colourful furniture that, in turn, makes employees feel happier and more productive'.
