Under the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) Enhanced Officers Career Scheme, officers will now retire at the age of 50.
The revision of career length to 50 addresses Officers' increasing preference to stay longer in SAF while enjoying a challenging, fast-paced career.
Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Officers provide organisational leadership, formulate operational plans and capability development across a dynamic and complex operational environment.
This will provide SAF Officers more time to train, and to acquire necessary expertise and knowledge to function effectively in the 3rd Generation SAF.
It will also ensure that leadership abilities and experience are retained within the Officer Corps.

THE Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is enhancing its career schemes for officers and regulars, which will see the retirement age of officers raised to 50, in a move to enhance their career and retain talent.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean on Thursday morning also announced expanded roles and responsibilities for warrant officers and the creation of a new military domain expert scheme for regulars such as engineers to specialise.
Mr Teo said the changes will 'keep SAF forceful and dynamic'.
