Following the service of choosing Chinese and Vietnam wives from a catalogue comes choosing a mistress from photos.
Mdm Leong, 62, alleged that her husband, Mr Chua, 68, fell in love with a Chinese woman after taking a look at her photo and decided to make her his mistress.
Mr Chua who worked as a driver had been a cassanova since his younger days and used to frequent brothels in Geylang. He previously held a well-paying job in a print factory, but he stopped giving his wife any household allowance after his two sons started working.
He spent all his hard-earned money cavorting and enjoying life.
When interviewed by Shin Min Daily, Mdm Leong admits that she stopped engaging in sexual activities with her husband four years ago in fear of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
She believes that her husband was acquainted with a group of friends who showed him a photo of a Chinese woman who claimed to be looking for a "someone to rely on" in Singapore.
Although the woman possessed only average looks and was rather rotound, Mr Chua fell in love with her almost instantly and decided to take her as his mistress.
The mistress, Miss Tian, 38, is believed to be a divorcee with an 18 year-old daughter. Tian came to Singapore in search of a job so that she could support her family.
This "mistress matchmaking" activity was believed to be initiated by Ms Tian's friend.
According to Mdm Leong, Tian came to Singapore on a vacation visa. Mr Chua rushed to the airport to fetch her upon receiving her call the morning she got off her flight.
"At first, that mistress stayed in her friend's house. My husband was mesmerized by her. They would have their daily rendezvous at her friend's house till late, and some nights he even stayed over! Eventually they cohabited," said Mdm Leong when she was interviewed by Shin Min Daily.
Mistress resorts to violence
According to Mdm Leong, Mr Chua gives $2300 of his monthly salary to his mistress. During the Chinese New Year period, Mr Chua was lucky enough to win $12,000 worth of Toto prize money. Unfortunately, his greedy mistress took half of that amount to remit to her family in China. Mr Chua's meagre savings were so badly depleted by his mistress' incessant demands that he had to undertake a bank loan of $2000.
Mdm Leong also told the reporter from Shin Min Daily that Mr Chua's mistress would pinch and hit him if he refused to give her money. Mr Chua's body was covered with bruises and scars from the attacks.
In an attempt to help her ex-husband, Mdm Leong called his mistress to dissuade her from continuing to make unreasonable demands. However, the mistress retaliated, "What can you do about it? Your lecherous husband only has himself to blame!"
Denial
When interviewed by Shin Min Daily, Mr Chua claimed he did not know a Chinese woman named Tian. He added that his wife was suffering from depression and often hallucinated.
He said that he divorced his wife because he couldn't stand her excessive gambling.
The reporter claimed that Mdm Leong showed her Mr Chua's bankbook which reflected frequent large withdrawal amounts. Mr Chua explained that he was withdrawing money to pay his colleagues on behalf of his employer. He denied undertaking any bank loans.
However, when Shin Min Daily called Mr Chua's son, he responded bluntly, "My father's lying! He has always been a cassanova. We have nothing to do with him anymore."
