46 submissions for NMPs

FORTY-SIX submissions for Nominated Members of Parliament (NMPs) have been received by the Special Select Committee, said a statement from the Office of the Clerk of Parliament on Monday night.

Thirty-one of them were from the general public, and 15 were proposed by six functional groups.

Nominations opened on April 6 and closed on May 11. The six groups are: business and industry; labour; the professions; social and community service organisations; tertiary institutions; and media, the arts and sports.

THE members of the Special Select Committee are:

- Speaker Abdullah Tarmugi (Chairman)
- Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Transport
- Mr Low Thia Khiang
- Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development
- Mr Masagos Zulkifli BMM, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs
- Mr Michael Palmer
- Mr Sam Tan Chin Siong
- Mrs Josephine Teo
