$12m boost for HDB shops
Fri, Jun 12, 2009

By Diana Othman

SOME 3,000 Housing and Development Board (HDB) neighbourhood shops will be getting a $12 million boost to help them compete and serve residents better.

The shops, from 33 sites in neighbourhood and town centres, as well as commercial complexes, are the second batch to be selected under the Revitalisation of Shops Scheme, as part of the Government's measures to help HDB retailers in the current economic downturn.

The number doubles the 14 sites picked in the pilot batch in 2007, when $5 million was spent to revitalise the shops.
