SAF promotes 464 officers

The Singapore Armed Forces is promoting 464 officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force to the next higher rank this year, the SAF said in a statement.

At a promotion ceremony this evening, Deputy Prime Minister and Minster of Defence Teo Chee Hean presented certificates of promotion to officers promoted to the rank of Colonel and above.

Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek presented the promotions to officers promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and above.

Five Colonels were promoted to the rank of of Brigadier-General or Rear-Admiral (One-Star) this year.

They are: Commander, 6th Singapore Division, COL Ishak bin Ismail; Commander, Air Defence and Operations Command, COL Kwek Kok Kwong; Head, Joint Communications and Information Systems Department, COL Lee Shiang Long; Chief of Medical Corps, COL (Dr) Seet Hun Yew Benjamin; and Commander, Maritime Security Task Force, COL Tan Wee Beng.
