No problems with Queenstown lift
Fri, Jul 10, 2009
my paper

I REFER to the letter by Mr David Kwok Ng Kan, 'Poor ventilation in Queenstown lift' (my paper, June 29).

Following his feedback, our maintenance staff conducted a check and found no fault with the blowers within the lift ceiling.

We would like to assure Mr Kwok that SMRT has a regular maintenance programme to keep our lifts in good working condition.

To ensure a prompt response to any problems, we would like to advise commuters to report any faults to our station staff for follow-up.

Work has already begun for the installation of another lift to provide barrier-free access to commuters at both ends of the bridge which leads to the MRT station.

The lift is expected to be available for public use by the first quarter of next year.
