Overhead bridges can draw criminals

my paper

By Ms Chua Kim Choo

WHILE pedestrians are supposed to use overhead bridges and not jaywalk, crossing the road via overhead bridges also poses its hazards.

With the exception of busy bridges in the city, most overheard bridges are underused and mostly quiet and deserted.

They attract potential criminals. I know of an elderly woman who was robbed and injured on an overhead bridge.

I am always worried for my young niece, who needs to cross an overhead bridge to get to school.

Installing more traffic crossings would be a better way to prevent jaywalking than building more overhead bridges.
