2015 aim for active ageing

A CHALLENGE is ahead for Singapore's seniors: More than half will need to be active agers by 2015.

The gauntlet was thrown down to grassroots leaders by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Boon Heng on Sunday, who wants to drum up participation in government initiatives that promote healthlier lifestyles among those aged above 50.

'By nature, the elderly tend to think that after reaching a certain age, they should not run around like a young person... but they have to at least remain active,' the minister said at the Jalan Besar Community Club on Sunday.
