A MAN was caught on CCTV footage making off with a $3,000 camcorder from the Best Denki outlet at the City Square mall on Wednesday.

The man, who looked to be in his late 20s, was seen cutting the strap of the camcorder, which was on display, at about 10.15am.

He somehow managed to leave the store without activating the security alarm and the theft was only discovered at 10.50am.
