Jimmy (not his real name) suffered big losses with online soccer betting and owes loan sharks up to $70,000.

He continued gambling to recoup his losses and borrowed from 24 loan sharks. When he ran out of options, he went to his parents for help.

Last month, Jimmy's parents had to sell their flat in Woodlands to help him pay off his debts. Even so, they could not raise the full amount.
