The owner of a provision shop in Serangoon Avenue 2 has gotten his tobacco license suspended by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for selling tobacco products to an underaged youth.
He was also fined $2,500 for the offence.
Mr Cheau Biau Teck admitted to selling a packet of cigarettes to an adult despite knowing that the cigarettes were purchased on the behalf of an underage youth.
It is an offence to sell tobacco products to persons below the age of 18, whether directly or with the help of an adult.
Offenders may be slapped with a maximum fine of up to $2,500 for the first conviction and up to $5,000 for the second or subsequent conviction.
Mr Cheau's suspension will continue to May next year.
