Mon, Nov 30, 2009

By Chua Hian Hou , Technology Correspondent

CONTACTLESS stored-value cards will be accepted at 19,000 more places by 2011, five times more than now.

The wider use of the card will be extended to more retailers, including hawker stalls, provision shops and vending machines.

To encourage merchants to accept these cards, the rental of payment terminals will be waived for a year and the transaction fees will be cut by up to half.
