Four $10,000 grants given to NUS researchers by Mitsui Sumitomo

RESEARCHERS from the National University of Singapore have been awarded four grants of $10,000 each by the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Welfare Foundation.

Dr Chan Moon Fai, assistant professor at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, will study the factors behind life expectancy; Dr Steven Graham, assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, will look at how to enhance brain function and life expectancy of the elderly; and Ms Lena Lim, research fellow at the Department of Psychological Medicine, will examine the link between loneliness and health in the elderly.

Dr Andrew Nee, professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, will work on a navigation-assistance system.
