Mr Loh Yew Seng, Chief Executive Officer of SPH Magazines, says: "The 15 awards won by SPH Magazines affirms our position as the Publisher of Choice. Credit must be given to everyone who worked tirelessly as a team to ensure that the magazines that reach our readers are excellent in every aspect. We will continue to ensure that our magazines achieve the highest standards that our readers and advertisers expect of us not just in Singapore, but also in the region."

This is the second year that the Magazine Publishers Association of Singapore (MPAS) is giving out the MPAS Magazine Awards to honour the best in local publishing. The awards were given out at the Pressmart MPAS Awards Nights 2010, which was held at the Rang Mahal Pavilion, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Sentosa.

This year's Awards had a total of 17 categories, including four special awards such as the Best New Magazine, Best Chinese Magazine and Best Online Magazine. In total, MPAS received 146 entries from Consumer, Trade and Contract publications.

Judging was made with a panel of industry experts drawn from various industries who came together to select the winning entries. To decide the winners, the judges looked for excellence in areas such as editorial content, design and creativity, photography, print production, advertising and marketing, digital media and overall magazine standards.

In addition to the awards won by SPH Magazines, ZbBz , a new high-end lifestyle magazine published monthly by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd's Chinese Newspapers Division, also won 2 awards. ZbBz, which was launched in October 2009, won a Silver award for Best Chinese Magazine of the Year and a Bronze for Luxury Magazine of the Year .
