New nursing homes to be built in the north
Thu, Mar 18, 2010
my paper

I REFER to Ms Chua Kim Choo's letter, "Spread out locations of new nursing homes" (my paper, March 15).

She noted that there would be two new nursing homes in the west (in Bukit Batok and Jurong West) and asked if it was possible to spread out nursing homes' locations.

The answer is yes and we have been trying to do so. There will be two new nursing homes built in the north (in Yishun and Sembawang) and one in Punggol.

We agree with Ms Chua that nursing homes should be located close to patients so that family members can visit them regularly without hassle.
