THE first marriage-resource centre in a library has been well-received since it opened last December.

Almost 600 visitors have visited the centre in Jurong Regional Library, which was set up by the National Family Council's marital-advice portal, Marriage Central, and the National Library Board.

They picked up reading materials on sustaining a blissful partnership, and attended marriage talks.

The centre has received more than 100 inquiries about marriage counselling, and has referred 16 couples to voluntary welfare organisations for it.

Ms Anita Fam, who chairs Marriage Central's advisory board, said: "We are certainly very encouraged that the resource point has reached out to almost 600 visitors, although it had been launched only three months ago."

Yesterday, Marriage Central also launched a card game to help couples get to know each other better as part of its marriage-strengthening campaign, Real Love Works.

For a month from Monday, couples who order special set meals at participating food-and-beverage outlets will be able to get the set of cards.

Newlywed Jenny Tan, 31, who played the game with her husband, Mr Charles Lim, 44, yesterday, said: "It was reaffirming for us to correctly answer questions on topics that we had not discussed before."

Under the campaign, workshops, a movie date and a mass picnic will also be held this month.
