LOCAL chef Irene Jansen sings and cooks up a storm in her series of cooking workshops, From Sutra's Kitchen.

Together with five of her kitchen assistants, who are also her vocal students, the team entertained a crowd of about 120 participants with their very own version of Lean On Me. A few verses in the song were re-written in Malay so that the predominantly Malay audience could sing along.

The 42-year-old cookbook author and food consultant was a Talentime semi-finalist in 1989, and is happy to share her passion for both cooking and singing.

The mother of two is also preparing for a cooking show at the Esplanade at the end of May, where she will spice up her cooking demonstration with a song and dance segment.

Her close friend Julian Wong has already penned some of the songs for the showcase, and her son will also perform on her cooking show.

Does Jansen make the cut as a singing chef? Check out her singing and cooking chops on RazorTV.
