SINGAPORE - Pandan Reservoir will soon become a bustling centre for water sports enthusiasts.
Under national water agency PUB's "Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters" (ABC Waters) programme, the reservoir has been transformed into a water sports arena with new facilities conducive for a range of various activities.
Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Trade & Industry; MP for West Coast GRC, today declared ABC Waters at Pandan Reservoir open in the West Coast Family Carnival.
ABC Waters at Pandan Reservoir features an amenities centre with changing rooms and restrooms facilities, housing the offices of the National Sports Associations for canoeing, sailing and rowing.
Decks for sight-seeing and activities such as sport fishing, and radio control and electric boat sailing provide new platforms for recreational activities, bringing people closer to water.
In addition, a water fountain, landscaped banks, and wetlands along the reservoir enhance the natural beauty of the place.
Mr Tan Nguan Sen, PUB Director of Catchment and Waterways, said, "Pandan Reservoir is the first ABC Waters project to be completed in the west, bringing a variety of water activities under one roof for people to enjoy.
"At the same time, as we enjoy these activities and new amenities, we hope that everyone will take ownership of our waters," Mr Tan added.
"Water in this reservoir comes from estates as far as Bukit Timah, Bukit Batok and Commonwealth, and we hope everyone plays a part in keeping our reservoirs and waterways free of litter," he added.
