SingPost clarifies "Penthouse" error

After a STOMP contributor sent in an email last week to alert the citizen journalism website that SingPost was offering banned adult's magazine, Penthouse, for sale through its VPost Service, the postal service has replied that the proffered magazine was due to a 'technical glitch'.

The magazine is banned in Singapore.

Ms Patsie Tan, Assistant Vice President, Corporate Communications for Singapore Post Limited, said in a statement: "We refer to the feedback by STOMPer LouLou, “'Penthouse' magazines available through SingPost?” (13 May 2011, AsiaOne).

"It was due to a technical glitch that the mentioned magazine was listed in vPOST inadvertently. We have rectified it as soon as we were alerted. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"We thank STOMPer LouLou for his feedback."

The STOMP contributor claimed to be surprised that the magazine could be acquired through the provider's VPost service.
