Sun, Apr 06, 2008
The Straits Times

Washington - Senator Hillary Clinton and former president Bill Clinton have made nearly US$109 million (S$150 million) since they left the White House, capitalising on the world's interest in the former first couple and lucrative business ventures.

According to tax returns released by the Clinton campaign on Friday, the family's annual income has shot up since Mr Clinton left the White House in 2001 and reached as high as US$20.4 million last year.

'The Clintons have now made public 30 years of tax returns, a record matched by few people in public service,' said campaign spokesman Jay Carson in a prepared statement.

Through a book deal, paid speeches, business partnerships and investments, Mr Clinton catapulted his family into a rarified level of personal wealth.
