MEXICO CITY - Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Monday that school and universities closed for more than a week because of his country's swine flu epidemic would re-open in coming days.

High school and university students would return to classes starting Thursday while younger pupils would resume lessons the following Monday, he told state officials.

'The situation is now stabilizing and we are in a position to get back on the path to normality,' Calderon said.

Moves were already being made to reopen eateries and other businesses closed in the capital to limit contagion of the (A)H1N1 virus.
