IPOH - A 62-year-old man, in an apparent cranky mood because his neighbour was allegedly making too much noise, slashed the other senior citizen with a parang to keep him quiet.

The victim, 73-year-old Wong Cheong Heng, died at his home in Taman Changkat in Kampar from slash wounds to his head and waist.

It was one of three killings re-ported in the state over the weekend.

Wong's daughter, who declined to be named, said her father was attacked when she and her sister were watching TV with him in the house at about 9.20pm on Saturday.

The daughter, in her 40s, said the suspect just barged into the house and slashed her father.

"My father was a good man and was killed for no reason," she said in between tears at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.

It is learnt the police received a call after the incident and quickly rushed to Wong's home to nab the suspect, said to be an unmarried man and known to be a loner in the neighbourhood.

Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Shukri Dahlan said the two senior citizens had not been getting along well for some time.
