Off-duty Certis Cisco officer jailed for assault

SINGAPORE - Off-duty Certis Cisco protection officer Jay Prakash Jageshwar Rai was on Thursday jailed for four weeks for punching and kicking a 69-year-old man at a coffee shop.

The 48-year-old admitted to causing hurt to retiree Ngoh Jat Peng at Block 280, Bishan Street 24, in March last year, reported The Straits Times Online.

Mr Ngoh was having breakfast when he commented to his friend that Rai and his friends were drinking early in the morning and smoking in a non-smoking area. On hearing this, Rai became angry, started using vulgarities and punched him.

Rai chased Mr Ngoh outside the coffee shop, throwing punches at him, and kicked the victim when he fell.
