The daily also reported that a three-year-old boy who had celebrated his birthday last Tuesday died the next day after being attacked by his uncle's dog in Ranau, Sabah.
The victim, Mohd Raqib Mohd Rasli, was playing with the dog earlier that day and was found in a ditch, covered in blood at about 7.30am.
After fighting for his life at the Ranau Hospital intensive care unit for 16 hours, the boy, who received 50 stitches all over his body, was pronounced dead at 9.40pm on Wednesday.
The boy was playing with the dog when his uncle, known as Rosman, left home to send his brother to town.
When Rosman returned, he could not find his nephew and thought the boy's father had taken him home.
"When I was about to leave for work, I saw the boy in the ditch covered in blood with his clothes torn.
"I rushed him to the hospital.
"I never expected that my dog would attack Raqib as they were seen playing together," he said.
Ranau district police chief Deputy Supt Suhaimi Hasim confirmed the incident.
