DR Kanwaljit Soin was presented with the 2008 Singapore Good Samaritan award by the Rotery Club of Singapore during their weekly lunchon at Raffles Hotel on Wednesday.

The award is in recognition of the former Nominated MP's work as founding president of Women's Initiative for Ageing Successfully (WINGS), a non-profit centre to provide support for women in their 40s and above.

WINGS has over the past two years helped almost 12,000 women with various programmes.

Dr Soin said of the award: 'It really means something to be honoured by your peers like that'.

"This is great to keep overseas Singaporeans connected to home news and affairs"

"My favourite was "The Aftermath for Malaysia Election" - (in my opinion), this was a very well crafted world standard image, it is even suitable for a Time magazine cover!"
