MICA appoints new chief executive for library board

The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) announced today that Mrs Elaine Ng Poh Choo will be appointed as the Chief Executive of the National Library Board (NLB) with effect from April 15.

Mrs Ng succeeds Mrs Phoon Chew Ping, who will step down tomorrow, April 1, due to health reasons. Ms Ngian Lek Choh, Deputy Chief Executive of NLB, will be the Acting Chief Executive during this interim period.

According to a press release from MICA, Mrs Ng joined the Ministry of Defence in 1989 and has more than 20 years of experience in the public service.

Since July 2010, Mrs Ng has held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Heritage Development) at the National Heritage Board (NHB).

Mr Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary for MICA, said, "We welcome Elaine onboard NLB, and we look forward to her bringing our national and public library services to greater heights."
