We refer to the article, "SAF to ease ban on camera phones in camps", published in The Straits Times on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Defence has received queries from the public seeking clarification on the matter.
This arose as the headline implied that the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) planned to ease the ban on camera phones, while the article quoted Mindef's statement on maintaining its current security policy.
Mindef would like to clarify and state that there is no change to the current security policy on disallowing personal image-capturing devices in SAF camps.
The ongoing trial is to explore ways to allow smartphones with cameras removed to be taken into Mindef/SAF premises.
