Actor R.J. Rosales dies in Sydney

Filipino-Australian actor R.J. Rosales passed away suddenly in Sydney.

He was found dead in an apartment in Sydney last Sunday, reported The Straits Times.

The actor, who was 37, was well-known in the musical theatre scene in Singapore. One notable performance was the role of Chang in the musical Chang & Eng.

Friends were shocked by the news, and close friend Cynthia Lee MacQuarrie is planning a memorial service next Monday.

Rosales was slated to perform in Dream Academy Productions' Crazy Christmas musical later this month. He told Dream Academy last week that he would not be coming due to a "personal medical condition".

Lee MacQuarrie told The Straits Times that the last person who saw Rosales alive was his godmother, who visited him in Sydney the day before he died.

The New Paper reported that Lee MacQuarrie was housemates with Rosales for a year about four years ago. She told The New Paper that she had been crying since she heard the bad news, and felt exhausted.

His family declined to elaborate on the details of his death.

Rosales was last seen performing in two musicals this year - Into The Woods and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.

Sebastian Tan, who starred alongside him in Into The Woods told The Straits Times that Rosales had problems like everyone else, but nobody knew why he did what he did.
