21st-century classrooms

Computers have become an essential part of our lives. But we should ask ourselves whether we make the most of our computers.

Students on all levels use computers to find information on the Internet that they need for making reports. Sometimes they may just copy and paste information into the reports, which amounts to plagiarism if credit to the source material on websites isn't given.

But no matter how much time and effort that students spend on research, their homework and presentations are generally only appreciated in their classroom. Almost nobody outside the classroom gets the chance to use their research and carry out further researches based on their works. Students cannot use their researches as a basis for further developing their ideas to get better researches.

The evaluation of the computer usage of students is best measured through their grades.

Teachers can also teach students to develop a systematic way of thinking while taking part in learning projects. This way of learning should be more interesting.

Using computers for self-learning is like going to study abroad. We will have to learn to speak and write in the language of the country where are studying.

Likewise, students should not idly wait for knowledge from teachers. That is, students should be taught how to fish instead of taught how to just eat fish.
