KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA - The nearly 300,000 primary school pupils in Sabah will receive free uniforms and shoes, courtesy of Yayasan Sabah.

The foundation yesterday gave RM20 million to the state-owned Koperasi Serbaguna Sanya (Kosan) for the items.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said he was pleased with the partnership.

He was represented by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan, who read the speech on his behalf, and witnessed the handing over of a mock cheque to Kosan general manager Junian Yunus by Yayasan Sabah director Tan Sri Khalil Jamalul.

Yayasan Sabah also signed memoranda of understanding and agreements with 17 local and international organisations to boost its role in human capital development, forest conservation and property development.
Other areas to be explored are animation and multimedia technology, financing, maritime industry, and tourism and hotel management.

Most of the agreements cover the expansion of Kolej Yayasan Sabah.

He said the partnerships Yayasan Sabah had forged with its 17 partners would allow it to broaden its development programmes, and help supplement the agenda of the Sabah Development Corridor.
