Why take a degree you won't use?

Law Minister K Shanmugam spoke to 350 new law graduates from the National University of Singapore on Tuesday morning.

Among those whom he was speaking to was model and actress Andrea Fonseka, who graduated with a second lower honours degree.

Ms Fonseka said she will not be entering the profession, choosing instead to continue her career in the entertainment industry.

The 24-year-old said that it was her parents who had wanted her to read law.

'My parents are very proud and I'm happy to have made them happy,' she said, on getting her law degree.
