MALAYSIA - CONTROVERSIAL rapper Wee Meng Chee has refused to apologise to his alma mater over his latest creation "The ABC Time of Teacher Khoo".

Major Chinese dailies quoted Wee as saying yesterday that he felt that he had done no wrong with his latest video, which was uploaded to YouTube recently.

It has since been deleted from the Internet after Wee's former school in Muar - Chung Hwa High School - filed a legal notice to Wee instructing him to remove the clippings.

The school had reportedly demanded that the video, which criticised the Malaysian Chinese education system, be removed, adding that it had not given permission for its buildings to be used as a backdrop.

Sin Chew Daily quoted Wee as saying that he had never regretted whatever he had done in his life.

The youth, better known as Namewee, noted that if he were to apologise, it was for failing to ask for permission from the school before shooting the video in front of its premises.

"But if I were to ask for permission, the video may not have been successfully made," he said, adding that he never thought his latest effort would cause such an uproar.

Hoping that his latest production would not lead to strained ties with Chung Hwa High School, Wee said "The ABC Time of Teacher Khoo" was to express problems faced by students of Chinese independent schools.

Wee asked his parents not to worry about the legal notice sent by his former school.

"I will bear responsibility for it," he said.
