ISHAAN PANSARE, Class 7
OUR fellow students in the kindergarten section have their fair share of hands-on activities to aid the learning process.
Their recent subject was Farm Animals, and they actually milked a cow in class!
A real cow? Now that would have created total mayhem in school. But our kindergarten teachers are very imaginative, and they simulated the actual experience without causing any disruptions.
A model of a cow was done in cardboard, latex gloves were used for udders, thick cream was poured into the 'udders' in place of milk and, voila, the 'cow' was ready to be 'milked'!
The cream, which came out via small holes made in the 'udders', was collected in little jars and shaken hard to produce, yes, butter.
The little children squealed with joy when they saw 'milk' coming out of the 'udders' and were able to understand this age-old process much better.
