TITANIC, the unsinkable ship, or so it was thought and declared by the company that built it, White Star Lines.

Though it hit an iceberg, the Titanic sank due to technical faults like the brittle fracture of hull steel, failure of rivets and flaws in the watertight compartments.

Many passengers lost their lives due to the shortage of lifeboats.

Our English topic for the month was Famous Ships. We were assigned the task of designing our own Titanic with improved safety and other features. We had additional safety features like lifeboats, alarms, radios and other fascinating apparatus. We also added other modern-day attractions like swimming pools, a jacuzzi, golf courses, a shopping mall and a helipad to make it more exciting.

There was one more difference: Our Titanic was made with recycled material. We enjoyed doing the project very much. It was a rich learning experience.
