>Since Sia Jin Zhu's plight was highlighted in AsiaOne, three people have written in to offer donations to the girl who has muscular dystrophy.

Ms Jennifer Ong, 37, a head auditor, offered to send the family a cheque of $500.

She says that this is the first time she was so touched by a news story that she is offering a donation to the family.

She said, "There are many people out there who need help but I am very touched by the elder sister's commitment, that one family member can do so much. She gave her everything.

"Most families would have given up on the younger sister. Also, her sister is taking care of her full-time, so I don't know how they make ends meet."

Others have written in to express their admiration for the sacrifices Sharon Sia has made for her sister.

Forumer fairnjust said:

"Ms Sia is still young and has long way to go - her health, study, job career and marriage etc. Therefore, it is sad that Ms Sia has to shoulder so much burden to take care of her sister."

Another forumer, Valerie extended her blessings, and called Sharon Sia "a gem".

If you wish to help the Sia sisters and her family, you can write your cheque to "Sia Jin Zhu" and mail it to 1000, Toa Payoh North, News Centre, Singapore 318994, addressed to Genevieve Jiang of The New Paper.
