Don't deprive kids of education

my paper

I AM heartened by a newspaper report in which Singapore's leaders pledged government support for the education of needy children.

During the current downturn, some children might have to drop out of school or discontinue their tuition classes.

While the Government and welfare organisations are trying their best to help needy children, parents also have to make some sacrifices and try to be more financially prudent.

They should not deprive their children of the opportunity to study, as a good education will stand these children in good stead in a competitive job market in future.

Above all, knowledge is power which can never be taken away.
