"Recently I've been so frustrated I think only of killing someone or committing suicide."
These were the words on a Chinese-language blog that could belong to the Virginia Tech student, Zhu Haiyang, who beheaded his fellow student, reported the Associated Press (AP).
The varsity's police are still trying to verify the identity of the blog's owner.
Zhu's behaviour was erratic and standoffish in the months before the campus decapitation, his landlord told AP.
However, a fellow teaching assistant described the Chinese national as being personable.
Earlier on Friday, AFP reported that Zhu was charged with first-degree murder for slaying fellow countryman, Yang Xin, with a large kitchen knife at a campus cafe.
Ms Yang had arrived at Virginia Tech in early January to begin studies in accounting. Zhu was a PhD graduate student in agriculture and applied economics.
University officials told AFP that that emergency contact records suggest Ms Yang and Zhu knew each other.
