NILAI, Malaysia: While other teachers were celebrating Teacher's Day in schools, two secondary school teachers here decided to keep their celebration private - and ended up being caught for alleged khalwat (close proximity).
The teachers, both married, were found in a rented house at 2.30am on Saturday during a raid by a group of officers from the Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department (JHEAINS).
"We've been receiving complaints from concerned parties about the couple's indecent behaviour," said a spokesman for the religious authority.
He added that the two teachers had been kept on a close watch for three months before JHEAINS officers took action.
The male teacher, in his 40s, is a senior assistant at a secondary school.
The woman, in her 30s, is an arts teacher from another secondary school.
The two have been released on RM3,000 ($1,240.80) bail and a surety each.
