The New Paper

Melior Business School

WANT to be a part of the glitzy F1 Grand Prix night race in Singapore?

One way to get involved is as an event manager, who oversees the various creative, technical and logistical elements to ensure the success of any event.

Becoming an event manager is just one of the many job options available to students pursuing Melior Business School's 16-month Bachelor of Hospitality Management (BHM) degree, which is awarded by CQUniversity in Australia.

The degree is one of three CQUniversity bachelor degrees that Melior is offering.

The hospitality management degree will expose students, who already have diplomas in tourism or hospitality, to business-related modules, like marketing management and using accounting for decision making.

They will be equipped with a wide range of skills, such as planning, marketing and management, for management positions within the hospitality industry.

Apart from event management jobs such as being a banquet sales executive, graduates can consider becoming tour-planners. They get to create new tour packages.

A CQUniversity degree will go far towards helping graduates secure a well-paid job.

The Good Universities Guide for 2009 gave CQUniversity five stars for the categories of graduate starting salaries, international enrolment, cultural diversity and access by equity groups.

For many, however, being able to give back to society is just as important as earning a high salary.

CQUniversity's Bachelor of Science in Psychology offered through Melior caters to those who are interested in jobs of this nature.

Psychology graduates will be able to find work in any setting where the knowledge of human behaviour and interactions is important.

These include human resource management, rehabilitation psychology, business psychology, public counselling, defence psychology, special education and organ transplant coordination.

Human resource managers as well as sales and marketing managers who enrol in the programme will also gain an edge when dealing with people at work.

Applicants to the two-year degree course should hold a relevant diploma or a bachelor's degree in any other field.

Melior will also be offering CQUniversity's cutting-edge Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree - one of the more important areas of applied science. Students will study the causes, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.

The programme will cover biological aspects of medical science and explore concepts associated with the areas of biochemical, biological, veterinary, para-medical and other related sciences.

They will also study subjects such as microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and bio-technology, analytical science, pharmacology and toxicology.

Graduates will find a wide range of employment opportunities available to them. They will be able to find jobs in the pharmaceutical, bio-technological and life sciences industries as well as in hospitals and government agencies.

Their expertise will also be sought after in the food industry, microbiological and medical diagnostics industries and the forensic science industry.
