'Washy' ditty for kids

THE Health Promotion Board (HPB) is hoping its new song Washy Washy Clean will be a No. 1 hit with pre-schoolers.

The ditty, released yesterday, teaches kids how to wash their hands correctly.

During the launch of the song at My First Skool in Whampoa Drive, Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan joined the pre-schoolers in hand-washing and health education lessons.

Copies of the song will be distributed to all pre-schools and childcare centres.

HPB chief Lam Pin Woon said: 'The Washy Washy Clean song helps children to remember proper hand-washing steps in a fun way.

'We hope that it will create a ripple effect in the family, and encourage other family members to adopt good hygiene practices to protect themselves against infectious diseases such as influenza and hand, foot and mouth disease.'
