'Intellectual Snob' not a graduate from elite schools

The anonymous blogger who calls herself the 'Intellecual Snob' has posted an apology on her blog, saying she is not a graduate of the elite schools she had previously claimed to be from.

The blogger had riled netizens with her commentary on Singaporean undergrads, calling them 'frogs in the well', and 'stupid', 'poorly-educated buffoons'.

She had claimed to be from Raffles Girls' School and Hwa Chong Junior College, before studying at the prestigious Ivy League colleges, Yale and Harvard.

However, those links could not be verified when investigated by journalists from my paper.

A student at NTU

In her post, titled 'Apology', the blogger revealed that she had 'elite envy' and started the blog 'because of issues I've not managed to overcome'.

She also stated that she is a current student of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

She claimed that her false persona was found out by some fellow NTU students and other 'top university graduates', but did not elaborate on the details.

She wrote: 'I was asked to post this admission by the NTU students if I wanted them to keep quiet about my identity'.

Some suspicious

However, some netizens were suspicious as to the authenticity of her post and do not believe that it was written by the real 'Intellectual Snob'.

One blog reader commented that the way the post was written was not in the blogger's usual style.

A contributor to STOMP who alerted the website to the post wrote: "Don't know what to believe, but I am intrigued."
